First time to the Cinco De Mayo regatta in Santa Barbara?
This should make your regatta trip go more smoothly !

Directions to the Santa Barbara Harbor
From the north: Exit at Castillo Street, turn right coming off exit ramp. Continue south on Castillo Street until street ends, then turn right on Shoreline Drive. Turn left at second stoplight, Harbor Way. Santa Barbara Sailing Club yard and club is directly on your right.

From the south: Exit at Bath Street. At first light turn left onto Haley Street. At next light turn left onto Castillo Street. Continue south on Castillo Street until street ends, then turn right on Shoreline Drive. Turn left at second stoplight, Harbor Way. Santa Barbara Sailing Club yard and club is directly on your right.

Car & Trailer Parking
Santa Barbara Sailing Club will have a yard open next to the club yard for free trailer storage during the regatta. Car parking during the regatta is either at two city pay lots, one directly west of the SBSC Club yard. The other, across Harbor Drive, directly east of the SCSB yard. Overflow parking may be available across the street in the Santa Barbara CIty College lots, but check first with SBSC at the registration desk. There is a free 90 minute lot directly north of the SBSC yard, but typical fills very quickly.

Launching
The club hoist is marked on the Google map below. You can tow your boat to the pier area and drop it, or push it over. SBSC has several electric trailer tugs if you need assistance. Be patient, as the launching area can get quite congested with boats, cars and pedestrians. Best approach is to drive over and drop your trailer in the queue.

Slips
You MUST register with the Santa Barbara Harbormaster for an overnight slip. Be sure to have your boat registration slip when requesting a slip. The Harbormaster office is above the West Marine store, accessed via stairs to the south. If you simply tie up in an empty slip overnight your boat will be impounded subject to a fine.

Food
Four restaurants are in the immediate harbor area, Brophy Brothers, Chuck Waterfront Grill, Breakwater Restaurant and On the Alley. Breakwater serves breakfast and both it and On The Alley have take out. There is also a small market near the hoist area.

Lodging
In the summer their is no cheap lodging in the Santa Barbara area. Tourism is the city’s biggest business and lodging costs reflect the area’s popularity. Goleta is approximately 20 minutes north on the freeway and provides an option. However with the proximity of UCSB don’t expect to see a large delta in lodging costs. If you have an RV contact GT at info@mercury-sail.com as I have parking for one RV vehicle at my house.

Weather
Typically we are moving out of the winter weather pattern and into the more consistent summer pattern with expected 10-15 knots and 1-3 foot seas. However if a high pressure builds to the east expect light breezes and warm temperatures. While unusually for May low pressure fronts can move through the area causing high winds and dangerous seas. Typically racing is cancelled when this occurs.  The "Local Weather" and "Tide Report" icons on this page are linked to the latest forecast information.
