Message From The President; Mike Burch.
It has been a week now since we left Huntington Lake, and it is still on my mind. If you were not there the weekend was amazing. Anyone who has ever put on a regatta knows how much effort it takes. Pat Bradley, Jim and Kathy Bradley, had everything lined up and organized with the Fresno Yacht Club and the US Forrest Service. Matt Jones was present to run the races and even providing beautiful weather. Peter and Lynn Baldwin worked on options for dinner on Saturday night, ending up with a shore side dinner with over 75 in attendance, put on by Lakeshore, and it was amazing. The evening finale was the Lanzafame family band performed some new original material.
It was great to see everyone back at Bear Cove. Activities started on Friday afternoon with Tom and Laura Priest providing Mai Tai’s, and continued activities throughout weekend with families and friends. It was great to see all the future Mercury sailors, and all the young kids enjoying the Cove. Not sure who had the biggest family present, the Whelan group or the Lanzafame family. Thanks to the race volunteers, Laura Priest, Lynn Baldwin and Aaron Lee in the mark boat, and to Barb Whelan for photos. This event only happens with all the volunteers who contribute.
Congratulations to Ben Bradley and John Lisenby on a great win and to all who attended. It felt like the past energy of Huntington Lake was back this year!
Next up, the 74th Labor Day Regatta, August 23-24. The NOR and registration have been sent out and can be found on the class website. Dick Clark always promises a good time, so sign up now. Looking forward to another great event.
