Mercury OD - Regattas, Results and Class Info - Updated 3/19/20

For over 75 years the Mercury Class Yacht Racing Association (MCYRA) has been racing throughout California. For 2020 the class continues to thrive and grow with great racing throughout all of California.   We have expanded the class archive section with some great historical docs and images with more to be added. And as always use the site learn about our history of competitive racing on the water and and family oriented activities off the water.

In 2020 we continue to attract top sailors in the best California racing venues but we don't forget to have fun. With regattas hosted in the San Francisco bay area, Carmel, Monterey, Huntington Lake in the Sierras, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles and San Diego great competition is close by and always a challenge! Our active regatta schedule has events occurring every month of the year.  Mercury sailboats are easy to store, trailer and launch. And you can get started on a budget with competitive used boats starting around $1000. For a closer look at a boat or a test sail as a crew contact a fleet representative

NorCal 3/7/20 Results

Encinal Yacht Club hosted an 8 boat Mercury fleet to kick off this year's four Saturdays of racing to determine who will be the 2020 NorCal champion.  The threat of rain in the morning may have discouraged a couple of sailors from coming out but for those who did, by the 12:30 start time the weather was perfect.  Breeze was a steady 5 to 7 knots with puff after puff rolling down the Estuary. Shifty was the word of the day but the shifts lead to a lot of position changes making for great racing for everyone.

2019-20 Perry Cup (Final Results)

From the Prez, March 2020...

Hello once again all Mercury Class members!

Been a few months, so here’s a brief class update………..

Strange times we are living in right now with the whole COVID 19 (Corona Virus) world pandemic. I first want to address the class sailing schedule…..that being said, some yacht clubs are completely shut down and some are on limited schedules but still conducting regattas or sailing events. One such club is the Encinal Yacht Club who host our NorCal series. They will still run our upcoming races on April 4th…….however, keep an eye on your email for any last minute updates or any changes. As for the rest of our racing schedule, we’ll just have to see what comes about in the next couple weeks. It is important that we make sure if the class is to change or cancel any up coming racing dates, we need to let the hosting club know in advance (as much as possible) that no Mercurys will be attending. I will leave those decisions up to the local fleets as to what they want to do.
