For the Mercury Class sailors, the next four months could be the most enjoyable time of the year. It begins with the Hart Nunes Regatta in June (13-14) at the San Francisco Yacht Club, sailed on Richardson Bay, site of the 75th National Championship in 2023. The event sets the tone, bringing together other competitive fleets and a shared excitement for the season ahead.
Next in July (25-26) comes the regatta at Huntington Lake with the help of the Bradley’s, the Baldwin’s, and Fresno Yacht Club widely considered one of the best places for a sailboat race. With steady winds of 6 to 10 knots and usually 75 to 80 degrees temperature in fresh water adds to the experience, offering smooth sailing and consistent performance thought the day.
The season continues in August (29-30) racing the 75th Labor Day Regatta in Stillwater Cove at Pebble Beach. The pier we launch from, thanks to the foresight of Matt and Mimi Jenkens who made a deal with Pebble Beach Golf Course to give our Mercury fleet use perpetually, make this regatta a truly special venue. Plus, the Saturday night dinner party on the pier provides a unique gathering place and strong camaraderie among the sailors.
Next in September (18-20), the fleet gathers for the 78th National Championship at the Monterey Peninsula Yacht Club, racing on the southern part of Monterey Bay. This venue tests even the most experienced sailors, ensuring that the next National Camp has earned it.
Each of these regattas promises strong fleets and spirited racing. For those who appreciate skill, and camaraderie, the Mercury Class offers an unforgettable season. Join the fun.
