Nine Mercs entered the racing on a day with smooth water, but very shifty and a velocity ranging 4-12 in puffs.This brought 13 Mercs who have participated in the two days of the series.

Races one was a single sausage finishing on the wind. The breeze was more northwest. Jim and Kathy Bradley had a good start, picked a good shift off the Alameda shore and led all the way. Pax Davis and Aaron Lee had a nice tight race with Bill Worden and Eric Foster. Davis was second and Worden third.

Race two Bradley was off again, but Worden and Hal and Ann McCormack found a lane going downwind on the windward-leeward course. Davis was able to hold them off to win the race. McCormack got by Worden to place second. Worden was third.

Race three, same course, Doug and Michael Baird showed they could handle the shifts as they also kept in the wind. Baird won easily. Davis passed Bradley on the downwind leg and covered him in a mini tacking duel. Davis was second, Bradley was third.

Race four was twice around as the puffs were hitting the highest velocity of the day. This change which side of the racing area was best. The puffs were more southwest. Davis tacked to port off the start and was able to get clear air. On the second leg up Davis had a nice lead, but as he approached the weather mark Steve Ritz and Erik Memzel were with him at the weather mark. They had played the Alameda shore on the weather leg. Ritz held Davis off on the downwind leg and went on to win the race. Davis was second with Worden third.

Race five was another twice around. Bradley took off and led the entire race. Worden was chasing but had to settle for second place. Steve Jeppesen and Ken Maring had their best race coming through the fleet to place third.

Davis  won the Homecoming Trophy and is the current leader of the series.
