Mercury Class Yacht Racing Association

Hal McCormack and the San Francisco YC ran this year's Hart Nunes Mercury regatta without any hitches, which can be difficult to organize in Racoon Straits.
Last minute entries, Scott Easom (crew Haydon Stapleton) and Jim and Kathy Bradley, spiced up the racing, making for a fun but challenging day racing in Richardson Bay.

The Richardson Bay course was decided from the outset as being more reasonable for conditions considering the previous blustery days.
Some new faces, Bill Pearson, Chris Kelly and Haydon Stapleton, all crewing yet expressing interest in coming back in different capacities.
Race conditions and strategy were challenging but heading out left into the SF Bay to the stronger wind was good at the first section of the wind leg, but at the top mark which was all over the place, it really depended on reacting quickly to puffs, or divine intervention.
Richardson Bay has always been a challenging place to run regattas but thankfully we could get in 5 races despite a course move to the wind line in the channel at the end of the 4th race.
