August 2017
Mercury Sailors, Nationals Are At Then End Of the Month!
Once again, the annual Mercury High Sierra Regatta was a big success! The lake was full of water, the weather and wind were perfect, and 23 boats came to compete! Pat Bradley, Peter Baldwin, and their support staff, pulled off another wonderful dinner on Friday night.
With great anticipation, we were all entertained by the Lanzafame family band! Baby Beach was a flurry of activity daily; Tom Priest mixed up his traditional 5 gallon batch of Mia Tai’s, the Fresno Fleet supplied beer Saturday after racing. This year there were several new members sailing Huntington Lake for the first time. By the sounds of it, they all will be back next year! A big congratulation to Doug Baird and Robert Lanzafame for winning the 2017 High Sierra Regatta.
Now on to the National Championships, hosted by the Monterey Mercury Fleet and the MPYC………August 25th thru the 27th. If you are planning on attending, get your entry in by August 17th. Dave Morris, of the Monterey Fleet and the Yacht Club need to plan for the dinner Saturday night, as well as, making room for all the boats in the harbor after launching. So, PLEASE get your entry in early! Monterey is a great venue, and we are expecting well over 20 boats on the start line! On Thursday, August the 24th we will be measuring sails and have the class scale there if your boat needs to be weighted.
If you are planning on sailing the following weekend in the Labor Day Regatta, the Stillwater Yacht Club has made arrangements for us to leave our boats on the Stillwater Pier after the Nationals.
See you on the water, in Monterey!
